Parks - Time For Play

Our Parks and Play

2015 to 2017 – Time for Play! In early 2015, MCCF began exploring the many facets of tackling an upgrade of playground equipment in Superior’s popular Eva Horning Park. After meeting with parents, grandparents, kids, teachers and town leaders, MCCF voted to take the lead in coordinating the effort, including seeking donations from individuals, businesses, building contractors (for in-kind services during construction), and writing grant applications to raise money to purchase the equipment. In 2015-2016, MCCF granted $10,000 towards the fundraising goal of $100,000 to purchase playground equipment. With hundreds of volunteer hours from Board members and community members, and many cubic yards of engineered wood chips from Tricon Timber, the playground was completed in November, 2016.

We have also contributed funding to the PEAK Foundation of Alberton to improve upon and install a skate-park in Hank Roat Memorial Park. We will continue to work with the PEAK Foundation to see Alberton continue to improve their outdoor places and help their youth pay for college.
